As the son of a Mini Cooper-driving Moonlight Rally class winner, David Evans was destined to spend his life in love with this sport. Beyond watching rallying, Evans’ other interest was writing about what he had seen. Still at school, he shunned the chance of working on the school’s own newspaper and, instead, set-up his own rally magazine.
Commercially, the magazine wasn’t the best investment David’s parents ever made, but it fired his enthusiasm further and helped land him his dream job at Motoring News. After five years writing about the best of British rallying for MN, Evans moved into the World Rally Championship and has stayed there ever since.
He now lives and breathes all things rallying for MN, AUTOSPORT and autosport.com. While still providing absolute proof that meeting your hero is no bad thing. Having pinned posters of Colin McRae to his wall in his youth, it has been the highlight of Evans’ career to date to meet the man and get to know Colin as… just Colin.
