The book

McRae, just Colin

Three years in the making, McRae, just Colin provides the ultimate insight into a true rallying legend. The record books say Colin McRae was the 1995 World Rally Champion, and he went on to set a record number of WRC wins. However, the statistics do little to explain the aura of the man. Colin McRae was a swashbuckling superhero behind the wheel, with an infectious personality outside of the car to match. McRae had two well known sayings, one being: ”If in doubt, flat out” and the other: “We’re here for a good time, not a long time.” Cruelly the latter became all too true, when on September 15, 2007 the 39-year-old Scot was killed instantly in a helicopter accident.

McRae, just Colin has been painstakingly researched and contains over 300 pictures and 56,000 words detailing what made Colin McRae such a fans’ favourite, worldwide. Much of the text takes the form of highly personal memoirs from those closest to Colin, starting off with his mother, Margaret, detailing her eldest son’s earliest adventures in Chapter One: ‘the busy baby’. The very best images from McKlein’s extensive archive have been used to lavishly illustrate this book, many of which have previously been unpublished.
